You’ll ride an eBike through Como’s winding streets with an iPad audio guide narrating local stories as you go. Pause at grand churches, lively squares, lakeside monuments, and elegant villas — even stop for coffee if you want. With both a friendly local leader and digital insights guiding you, it’s an easygoing way to soak up Lake Como’s character without breaking a sweat.
I didn’t expect to start my morning in Como balancing an iPad on my handlebars, but there I was — helmet a bit askew, grinning at the woman handing me the bike. She showed me how to work the audio guide (honestly easier than I thought), and then we rolled out into those narrow streets. There’s this mix of old stone and espresso smells that hits you right away. Our tour leader waved us forward with a “piano, piano!” — slow down — which made me laugh because I was already nervous about bumping into someone’s nonna.
The eBike did most of the work up gentle hills, so I could actually look around instead of just sweating. We stopped outside the Duomo first; everyone stood quietly for a second listening to the audio story about its history (I caught myself staring up at the statues instead). At Piazza Volta, a group of teenagers were arguing over gelato flavors — pistachio always wins here, apparently. The lake glinted just beyond them. I tried to repeat what our guide said about Alessandro Volta’s monument but probably got half of it wrong.
We cruised past villas and little churches — some we could peek into if they were open, others just from the outside while the audio filled in details. At one point we paused by a tiny bar near Villa Olmo; our guide suggested a quick coffee break if we wanted. The espresso was sharp and perfect, cut through by that lake breeze. Honestly, I still think about that view from the bench outside: sunlight on water, boats bobbing in silence except for a kid shouting somewhere down by the docks.
The whole day trip around Lake Como by eBike took maybe three hours? Time blurred a little with all the stops and stories in my ears. It felt easy — not rushed or exhausting like some tours get. I liked having both a real person leading us and that digital voice filling in bits of history or art as we went along. It’s funny how sometimes technology makes you pay more attention instead of less.
Your day includes use of an electric bike equipped with an iPad audio-guide system (in 19 languages) and helmet; plus guidance from a local tour leader throughout your ride around Como’s main sights and lakeside spots.
