The experience
You'll ride Arabian thoroughbreds bred for endurance, not a casual walk. After a short briefing where you get fitted with a cap, gaiters and protective vest, the first two hours take you through mountain trails and picturesque forests at a pace suited to expert riders. The route builds toward a break at a working farmhouse, where you'll eat platters of cold cuts, cheeses and bread with bottled water and a glass of red wine.
The second half of the ride opens up. You gallop on the paths with views of both Como and Annone lakes spreading below the mountains. This segment is where the endurance of the horses and your own skill matter: the terrain and the pace reward riders who know how to move with the animal instead of fighting it. The whole experience runs four and a half hours from start to finish.
A live guide leads the group in English or Italian. Public transportation options are available nearby if you're coming from Como town. Bring a moderate level of physical fitness. The ride is built for people who have spent real time in the saddle.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of horses do I ride on this experience?
Arabian thoroughbreds bred for endurance. They're built to handle the mountain terrain and the pace of the ride, and the operator has chosen them specifically for expert riders who can work with their temperament and strength.
How much of the ride is actually galloping versus walking?
The first two hours move through forest and mountain trails at a working pace. After lunch at the farmhouse, the second two hours include galloping on the paths with views of the lakes. That's where the speed and the open terrain come together.
What's included in the farmhouse lunch?
Platters of cold cuts, cheeses and bread; bottled water; and one glass of red wine. It's a break in the middle of the ride, not a separate meal stop.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the meeting point?
Public transportation options are available nearby. Private transport to and from your hotel can be arranged separately for an additional cost.
What's the minimum riding experience I need?
You need to be an expert rider. This is not a beginner or intermediate experience: the horses, the terrain and the pace are all built for people with real saddle time.
