The experience

Eight hours on the water means you leave Arbatax in the morning and spend the day moving between the Gulf's most photographed coves. The boat itself is built for both sailing and stopping: you'll have snorkel masks on board to explore the seabed, a relaxation area to sit in the sun, and the freedom to move between the two. Cala Goloritzé, the anchor stop, took first place in the 2025 ranking of the world's 50 best beaches: a recognition that reflects the turquoise water and white pebbles, but also the limestone crag that rises behind them and makes the place unmistakable.

The route strings together four named stops: Cala Mariolu, where you can snorkel or try a SUP board; Cala Biriola, a crescent of white pebbles backed by a two-kilometer limestone arc; Pedra Longa, a limestone spire that rises from the sea as a detached fragment of the Baunei plateau; and Cala Goloritzé itself. The guide narrates the coast as you sail, pointing out the geology and the history written into the rock. Between stops, the crew serves an aperitif of local products, then a gourmet lunch of fresh fish and squid pasta with prawns, finishing with lemon, cherry or mint granita and coffee. Wine and beer are available to order separately.

Groups stay small, four to ten people per boat, so the boat does not feel crowded even when full. The minimum of four passengers is a hard floor: if fewer book, the tour cancels and you get your money back. Children from age one are welcome on board. The tour runs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and one other language, with a live guide steering both the boat and the conversation.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want to sail rather than take a motorboat, and if you're comfortable spending a full day on the water with four to nine other people. The small group size and the sailboat pace mean you move slowly enough to notice the coast, but the eight-hour commitment is real. This is not a quick hop to one beach and back.

What is Cala Goloritzé like when we arrive?

Cala Goloritzé is a small cove ringed by white pebbles and backed by a dramatic limestone cliff. The water is turquoise and shallow enough near the shore to snorkel without going far from the beach. The crag behind it is the landmark that makes the cove instantly recognizable, and it's the reason the beach ranked first globally in the 2025 World's 50 Best Beaches list.

Can we snorkel at every stop, or only at some?

Snorkel masks are on board and available throughout the day. Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzé are the primary snorkeling stops, though you can enter the water at other coves as well. The crew will guide you on conditions and depth at each location.

How many people sail on the boat?

The 16-meter sailboat carries a minimum of four and a maximum of ten passengers. If fewer than four people book, the tour is cancelled and you receive a full refund.

What happens if I don't eat fish or want to avoid alcohol?

Lunch centers on fresh fish and squid pasta with prawns, prepared by the boat's cook. Alcoholic beverages are not included but are available to purchase on board. If you have dietary restrictions, contact the operator before booking to discuss what can be arranged.
