- Explore Palatine Chapel interior
- Visit Boboli Gardens
The Experience
The Palatine Gallery sits inside Palazzo Pitti, the last residence of the Medici family, and it holds their private art collection—not a museum built later, but the rooms where they actually lived and hung the paintings they owned. Your guide takes you through galleries filled with works from the 15th to 17th centuries: Botticelli, Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio and others. The Palatine Chapel, a Baroque room inside the palace with frescoes and gilded details, is part of the tour—it was the private place of worship for Florence's ruling families and sits hidden inside the palace itself.
After the guided portion ends, you have free time to wander the other museums in Palazzo Pitti at your own pace: the Gallery of Modern Art, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, the Royal Apartments and the Museum of Fashion and Costume. You move through them alone, at whatever speed suits you, without the group or the guide's schedule pressing.
Your entry ticket to Boboli Gardens is included. The gardens sit directly behind the palace and are one of the finest Renaissance gardens in Florence—created by the Medici in the 16th century, they hold the Fountain of Neptune, the Buontalenti Grotto, sculptures, fountains and hidden pathways. You explore them after the palace, and the views back toward Florence spread across the hillside. Note that some areas of the gardens may be closed for maintenance at the time of your visit, managed by the Uffizi Galleries administration.
