The experience
You disembark at Cagliari and take a free shuttle to the passenger terminal, where your guide meets you outside the gate. From there, a 45-minute scenic drive takes you south to Chia, a coastal town on Sardinia's southwestern edge. The route itself is part of the tour: you'll see the landscape shift as you approach the water, and your guide will begin telling the stories and history of the area you're about to explore.
Once in Chia and Teulada, you'll stop at up to six coves, each one chosen for its water clarity and sand. Cala Cipolla sits below the Capo Spartivento lighthouse (built in 1854 by the Italian Navy and now Italy's only lighthouse converted into a guest house), and offers some of the best snorkeling in South Sardinia. Tuerredda is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the area and also has excellent snorkeling. Malfatano, with its calm waters and views across Capo Malfatano bay, suits families with children. Your guide provides snorkel gear, or you can bring your own. Some travelers simply spread a towel on the peach-colored sand and rest. A few of the beaches have restroom facilities and small cafes where you can buy lunch, drinks or snacks. Your guide will help you navigate the options.
The pace is yours to set. How long you spend at each cove determines which six you'll reach, and your guide adjusts the route to fit your interests and the time you need to return to the cruise port. The drive back gives you time to settle in before re-boarding, and if traffic delays the journey, the tour shortens rather than risk your ship's departure.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
How much time do I actually spend swimming and snorkeling at the beaches?
The itinerary is flexible: you choose how long to stay at each cove, and your guide adjusts which beaches you visit based on your pace. Most travelers spend several hours in the water across the stops, with time to rest on the sand between coves.
What is Cala Cipolla like for snorkeling?
Cala Cipolla is one of the best snorkeling spots in South Sardinia, with clear turquoise water and views of the Capo Spartivento lighthouse from the beach. Your guide can provide snorkel gear if you don't have your own.
Do I need to arrange my own lunch, or is it included?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. Small cafes and food stands operate at some of the beaches (Cala Cipolla, Tuerredda and Malfatano), and your guide will help you find options. If you book the Private Tour + Stop for Lunch option, you can pause for a meal at one of the beaches. You'll order and pay separately.
Will the tour get me back to the ship on time?
Yes. At booking, you provide your ship's name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time. Your guide plans the route to return you by your re-boarding deadline. If traffic or delays occur, the tour shortens rather than risk missing your departure.
Is the Capo Spartivento lighthouse something I can visit, or just see from the beach?
The lighthouse is visible from Cala Cipolla beach, where you'll stop. Your guide will share its history (built in 1854 by the Italian Navy, damaged in World War II, automated in the 1980s, and restored as Italy's first lighthouse guest house in 2006) as part of the tour narrative.
