The Experience

The first thing I noticed was the quiet hum of my e-bike as we rolled out from Piazza del Popolo—locals call it their living room, and honestly, it felt like one. Our guide, Marco (he grew up here), pointed out the old café Meletti where folks sip anisette in the morning. The air had that faint scent of fresh bread from a bakery tucked just off Via del Trivio. It was early, so the stone streets were still cool under the wheels.

We zigzagged through narrow lanes—some barely wide enough for two bikes—and Marco kept tossing in little stories about the travertine buildings. There’s this spot near Porta Gemina where you get a sudden view over tiled rooftops; I almost missed it if he hadn’t stopped us there.
