The Experience

He walks you through the medieval streets and stops at the cathedral—a mix of architectural styles from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries—then moves to Piazza Civica, the main square where Charles V spent a night during his travels. The tour takes roughly ninety minutes to just over two hours, depending on questions and pace.

You'll see the fifteenth-century walls that still ring the old town, climb past the San Giacomo Tower, and visit what was once North Sardinia's only Jewish quarter. During the Catalan domination, Jewish families lived and worshiped here; a synagogue and cemetery once stood in these streets, now converted to Catholic buildings, but the historical structures of those families remain visible. A coffee break near the Church of San Francesco gives you a moment to rest, and you'll end at Porta Terra Tower, the fortress's original entrance from the fourteenth century.
