The experience

How do you get to Alberobello's trulli without renting a car? The guide picks you up from your Bari hotel, the airport, or the port, then drives you through the Itria Valley countryside to the town itself. The route is part of the tour. You see the landscape that shaped these buildings before you arrive.

Once in Alberobello, you walk through two districts: Rione Monti and Aia Piccola. The trulli are rural architecture that has survived centuries: cone-shaped stone houses stacked without mortar, their roofs tapering to a point. The guide explains how they were built and why they still stand. You get time to walk inside some of the trulli structures themselves, not just past them. The panoramic view across Aia Piccola shows the full expanse of these roofs, one after another, filling the hillside.

At the end of the walking portion, you have free time to have lunch on your own in the town, then rejoin the guide for the drive back to Bari. Before you leave, there's a tasting of local extravergine olive oil and liqueurs. Two things Puglia is known for and not something you'd arrange on your own. The vehicle is air-conditioned and has WiFi on board.

Operated by Puglia Tours

Is this one for you? This is a private tour, so the guide and vehicle are yours alone: no group to keep pace with or wait for. That works best if you want to move at your own speed through the districts and ask the guide questions without rushing, or if your hotel pickup time doesn't align with a shared departure.
