The experience

You'll work with silk painting, a technique that doesn't forgive mistakes the way canvas does: the paint spreads and flows, which is exactly what makes it special. The instructor draws your chosen pattern using gutta, a resist that stops the paint from bleeding where you don't want it, then walks you through which colors to mix, how to load the brush, and how to move across the fabric without overworking it. No prior painting experience is needed. The step-by-step guidance handles that.

Before the session, you'll pick your design from a Pinterest album the instructor sends, so the pattern is already drawn and ready when you arrive. The finished piece is a 30x40cm hanging you can take home the same day. The workshop includes all brushes, paints, silk and equipment. You just bring an apron to protect your clothes. Coffee and tea are available while you work.

The session requires a minimum of two participants to run, so you'll be booking alongside at least one other person. The instructor speaks English, French and Hebrew, and the workshop sits near public transportation options in Jerusalem.
