If you want to see Eilat’s wild side without breaking a sweat, this electric mountain bike tour is for you. You’ll ride easy up desert trails, cut through hidden single tracks only locals know about, and stop at a viewpoint where three countries meet your gaze. It’s safe, fun—even if you’re not a hardcore cyclist—and led by guides who know every twist of these trails.
There’s this dry, earthy smell that hits you as soon as you step off the minibus at the ranch outside Eilat. The sun’s already warming up the sand, but there’s a breeze that keeps things comfortable. Our guide—Uri—handed out helmets and checked everyone’s bikes, making sure the seat was just right for each of us. I’d never tried an e-mountain bike before, so I was a bit nervous. Uri gave us a quick rundown on how to use the power assist (it’s honestly easier than it looks), then we did a few laps around the lot to get used to it. Someone in our group kept laughing every time their bike zipped forward with barely any effort.
Once we were all set, we rolled out together, leaving behind the last bit of paved road. The first ten minutes were mostly gentle uphill—nothing too tough thanks to those electric motors. You could hear little more than tires crunching over gravel and the occasional shout from someone spotting a desert lizard darting across the path. After a while, Uri led us off onto these narrow single tracks that twist through rocky hills. This part felt like real mountain biking—tight turns, quick dips, and views that just kept getting wider.
About an hour in, we reached a spot where you can see everything: Eilat below us, Aqaba across the water, even Saudi Arabia shimmering in the haze. We parked our bikes and just stood there for a bit—no one said much; you don’t really need words for that kind of view. After catching our breath (and grabbing a few photos), we headed back down along different trails—faster this time, with way more confidence than when we started. Back at the ranch, I realized my legs weren’t nearly as tired as I expected—those e-bikes really do make a difference.
