The experience

You enter a reconstructed Viking house in Waterford and put on a virtual reality headset. What unfolds is the world's first Viking VR 3D adventure: you get up close with the Vikings who founded Waterford over 1000 years ago, experiencing the thrill of raiding the settlement they called Vadrefjordyr. A live guide in English walks you through the experience, and depending on the day, you might meet a real-life Viking or two in costume as part of the immersion.

The activity runs 40 minutes and is designed for all physical fitness levels. It's wheelchair accessible, with all areas and surfaces accommodating mobility needs, and service animals are welcome. The experience suits visitors from age 8 onward, though it's not recommended for anyone sensitive to flashing lights, which are part of the VR environment.
