Summary

Ubud monkeys temples waterfalls and rice fields in one day

You’ll wander Ubud’s Monkey Forest with its cheeky macaques, feel jungle spray at Kanto Lampo Waterfall, and walk through Tegalalang’s endless green rice terraces — all with a local guide who knows every shortcut and story. Includes hotel pickup and entry fees so you can just soak up Bali’s rhythm.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I’ll be honest — I didn’t expect a monkey to steal my banana before 10am. But that’s how our Bali Ubud tour started: a quick hotel pickup, then straight into the Monkey Forest, where the air is thick and green and macaques run the show. Our guide Wayan knew all their tricks (he just grinned when mine vanished). There’s something about hearing temple bells through the trees while monkeys chatter overhead — it felt like being inside someone else’s story for a bit.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall came next, after a winding drive past little shrines and women balancing fruit baskets on their heads. The waterfall isn’t huge but it’s got this layered rock face, water tumbling down in sheets you can actually stand under if you don’t mind getting soaked. I tried — the water was cold and sweet-smelling, almost earthy. Wayan showed us how locals make offerings nearby; he said it brings good luck, though I’m not sure if that counts for tourists who slip on the rocks (I nearly did).

Lunch was at some roadside place with fried tempeh and spicy sambal that made my nose run. After that we visited Tirta Empul Temple — people were queuing to bathe in holy water, incense everywhere, families laughing quietly in corners. It felt respectful to just watch for a while. Later we walked Tegalalang Rice Terrace as the sun dropped low; green steps folding into each other forever. I still think about that view sometimes when things get noisy back home.
