Wool Workshop in Iceland: Make Your Own Souvenir
Craft with Icelandic wool, walk the beach, visit a presidential residence
The Skrimsli Workshop is a private wool-crafting class in Iceland where you make your own souvenir using local Icelandic wool and upcycled materials. Your group works alone with a live guide speaking English or Danish, then has time to stroll the beach or visit Bessastaðir, the historic presidential home, just two minutes away. Coffee, tea and juice are included.
The experience
You arrive at The Skrimsli Workshop, a 20-minute drive from Reykjavik city center, and step into a space built around hands-on making. The workshop runs private (only your group, no mixed sessions), so the guide tailors the pace and instruction to what you want to learn. You work with Icelandic wool and upcycled materials, learning traditional techniques while building something you'll take home. The whole session runs about an hour, and coffee, tea or juice keeps you going while you work.
After you finish, the beach is right there. Some groups linger on the sand. Others walk the two minutes to Bessastaðir, the official residence of Iceland's president, which sits on the coast nearby. The workshop sits close enough that you can do both if the timing works, or simply unwind after the creative work.
The operator emphasizes sustainable, eco-friendly production. The wool is local, the upcycled materials keep waste out of landfills, and the whole setup reflects that ethos. Infants can come (they sit on an adult's lap or in a pram), and the space is suitable for all fitness levels. Public transportation runs nearby if you don't have a car.

Is this one for you?Since the workshop is private and you do the making yourself, it suits anyone who wants hands-on creative time without watching a demonstration or sharing the space with strangers. Families with young children work well here because the guide can adjust the pace, and the beach walk afterward gives everyone a chance to settle before the drive back to Reykjavik.
