The experience

Öldur moved to Hella after years in Reykjavík, and the new location sits by the river. You start with a meet-and-greet where the team introduces you to the meadery and shows you where the mead is made. Then the guide walks you through Öldur's history before moving into the tasting itself.

You taste at least three different meads: the exact varieties depend on what's in production that season, but the menu rotates through options like Spiced Session Mead, Fruity Session Mead, and Classic Mead. The focus is on quality and Icelandic ingredients whenever possible. After the tasting, you get a seat with a view of the river where you can finish your mead at your own pace, no rush.
