The experience
The Supertruck handles terrain no regular tour bus can reach. Starting from Isafjordur, you navigate two underground tunnels carved through the mountains, then climb into the Westfjord Highlands where the road hugs fjord edges and peaks. The drive itself is the route, not a transfer to a destination, but the day's geography made visible.
Dynjandi is the anchor. You'll have roughly an hour at the waterfall. The choice to hike up to its thundering base or stay at the parking lot is yours depending on energy and weather. On the way, you pass Hrafnseyri, a historic farm with a turf-house café where refreshments are available, and Sandafell mountain, where the Supertruck climbs to views that regular tour buses never reach. The route back depends on conditions: if the high mountain roads (Hrafnseyrarheiði or Álftamýrarheiði) are passable, you'll cross one of them. If not, you tunnel back the way you came.
An English-speaking guide is with you for the full five hours, and pickup from your Isafjordur hotel is included. The Supertruck itself is the difference here. It is what makes these backcountry roads and mountain summits possible in a single morning or afternoon.
What’s included

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I hike to the base of Dynjandi waterfall, or do I just see it from the parking lot?
You have the option to hike up to Dynjandi's base during your hour at the site. If you prefer to stay at the parking lot and take in the view, that's fine too. The choice depends on your energy and the weather on the day.
What are the two mountain tunnels you drive through?
The tunnels are part of the route from Isafjordur into the Westfjord Highlands. You drive under the mountains rather than over them, which is one of the ways the Supertruck's route differs from standard tours.
What happens if the mountain roads are closed when we return?
If summer conditions close Hrafnseyrarheiði or Álftamýrarheiði, you'll return to Isafjordur through the tunnels instead. The guide will confirm road status on the day and adjust the route accordingly.
Is food or drink included on this tour?
Food and drinks are not included, but you're welcome to bring your own picnic lunch. Hrafnseyri has a café in a turf house where you can buy refreshments during the tour.
How long is the full tour, and what time does it start?
The tour runs five hours total. Your guide will confirm the departure time when you book, and pickup from your Isafjordur hotel is included.
