The Experience

You get picked up from your Antigua hotel and driven to the boat dock, then ride across Lake Atitlan to the property where you'll spend the next ten hours. The lake itself is the main event—a volcanic caldera surrounded by volcanoes—and the property sits right on the water with a dock, hammocks, chaise lounges and all the gear you need to get in. Swim whenever you want, paddle a kayak or SUP out across the water, or stay dry and read in the shade.

The day has no fixed schedule. Some people spend the morning in the water and the afternoon in a hammock. Others kayak for an hour, then settle into a book. If you book the optional spa package, you can work in a massage or facial between the swimming and the lounging. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase. The shared boat ride back to Antigua leaves when the day ends, and the driver takes you back to your hotel.

This works best if you have a free afternoon or a full day and want to step away from Antigua's colonial streets without arranging transport or a guide yourself. The property is wheelchair accessible, and infants can come along in a pram or stroller.
