The experience
You arrive at Quetzal Port and get picked up for the 90-minute drive to La Reunión. The course sits in open country ringed by volcanoes and mountains. The fairways are built into the landscape rather than carved out of it. You play 9 holes with a caddie who walks the course with you and a golf cart to move between greens. Equipment rental is available if you did not bring clubs. The course provides everything else: green fee, cart and caddie are all included. The light is steady and the temperature mild at this elevation.
After the round, you drive another 90 minutes back toward the port, stopping at San Cayetano farms for lunch. The dining area overlooks the same volcanoes you saw from the fairways. Wine is included with the meal. The whole day (drive, golf, lunch, return) runs 6 hours from the moment you leave the port.
