What if the village you've watched on screen for years is actually real, and you could stand where the detectives stood? That's the pull of this Death in Paradise tour departing from Pointe-à-Pitre cruise terminal on Grande-Terre Island. Your guide was an extra in seasons 14 and 15, so they know which scenes were shot where and what it was like to watch the crew work. The driver meets you at 8:30 am near Terminal 1 with a sign bearing your name, then you're driven along the coast toward Deshaies to see the beach where the Inspector's house gets built each May through August—visible only during the filming season, which matters if you're timing your cruise around it.

The botanical garden in the village of Honoré (also called Village Honoré) takes up about an hour of the tour. You'll walk through water lilies, koi ponds, and a parrot sanctuary, and you can feed the animals if you want. There's a private villa inside the garden where Richard Poole, the first detective, was found murdered in the series—it's not open to visitors, but your guide will point it out and explain the scene. After that, you move through Port Honoré, where all the boat arrivals and departures were filmed, then into the village itself for a walking tour of the church, Catherine's first bar location, and other spots that made it into episodes. The walking involves about 40 minutes on uneven ground and steps, so you need to be comfortable with that.

The Honoré police station is the only permanent set built just for this series. You'll stop for photos, and if it's open (usually December through April), you can go inside and pay €15 or $20 on the spot for entry. Then comes the choice: lunch at Catherine's Bar with a pre-ordered menu sent to you by email, or an hour of free time to explore the village, sit on the small beach next to the bar, or grab a drink. Lunch isn't included in the tour price, and Catherine's Bar is closed Wednesdays and public holidays, so plan around that. If you choose free time instead, drinks are available but tables aren't reserved unless you're eating. After either option, you drive back along the coast with a stop for views of a hotel complex used as a filming location, then return to the cruise terminal around 2:30 or 3 pm depending on your ship's departure.

Bring your own water bottle—the operator stopped providing plastic ones. The tour requires a high level of fitness and involves sustained walking on unpaved terrain, so it's not suitable for people with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or hearing impairments. Wheelchairs, motorized scooters, walkers, and strollers aren't permitted. If you're a Death in Paradise fan and your cruise stops in Pointe-à-Pitre, this is the only way to see the actual locations without arranging transport and timing yourself.
