Pickup is available from several locations across Rhodes; Butterfly Valley entrance is optional. The tour runs 5 hours.
Step-by-step itinerary
Butterfly Valley visit and tasting
- Enjoy free time at Butterfly Valley
- Taste local wine, olive oil, and honey
The Experience
Five hours gives you time to wander Butterfly Valley before the tasting begins. The valley fills with thousands of butterflies each late May when they're drawn by the scent of oriental sweet-gum trees, though the landscape stays worth seeing year-round. You'll have free time to explore on your own before heading to the tastings, so there's no rushing through the site.
The tasting itself covers three things: different wine varieties, extra-virgin olive oil pressed from ancient olive trees (the same kind your ancestors used centuries ago), and local natural honey infused with thyme, pine, orange blossom and spring flowers. You'll taste each one at the Bee Museum, which is included in the price. A local English-speaking guide leads the group, which stays small enough that you're not herded through with fifty others.
Pickup is available from Cruise Ship Harbor, Lachania, Lindos, Kiotari, Theologos, or Faliraki depending on where you're staying—or you can meet the group at the starting point. Butterfly Valley entrance costs extra if you want it; the tasting and museum are already in the price.

When do the butterflies fill Butterfly Valley?
Butterfly Valley sees thousands of butterflies at the end of the wet season, typically late May, when they're attracted by the scent of the oriental sweet-gum trees. The valley is worth visiting outside that window too, though the butterfly display is the main draw.
What exactly do I taste on this tour?
You'll sample different wine varieties, extra-virgin olive oil from ancient olive trees, and local natural honey infused with thyme, pine, orange blossom and spring flowers. The tastings happen at the Bee Museum, which is included.
Can I get picked up from my hotel?
Pickup is included and available from Cruise Ship Harbor, Lachania, Lindos, Kiotari, Theologos, or Faliraki. If none of those match your location, you can meet the group at the tour's starting point instead.
Is the Butterfly Valley entrance included in the price?
Butterfly Valley entrance is optional and costs extra. You do get free time to explore the valley before the tasting tour begins, so you can decide whether to pay for entry once you see it.
How many people are in the group?
This is a small-group tour, which means the group stays manageable and you're not part of a large crowd moving through each stop.
