Private Sunset Catamaran Cruise Naxos: Dinner Afloat
Two and a half hours watching the sun drop into the Aegean with dinner in your hands
A private sunset catamaran cruise in Naxos departs Chora marina at 6pm and runs 2.5 hours, with the captain anchoring near Portara or Saint George Beach — two of the island's most famous sunset spots. Dinner is traditional Greek food made with local ingredients, served with Greek salad, chilled wine, beer and fresh fruit. The boat holds your group alone; a live guide speaks English and Greek.
The Experience
The cruise leaves Naxos marina at 6pm, giving the captain time to motor to one of two anchor points before the light starts to go. Portara — the giant stone door frame that stands on a headland — is one of the island's most recognizable landmarks, and Saint George Beach sits on the opposite side of the coast. Which one the captain chooses depends on wind and the exact angle of the sunset that evening. Either way, you are stationary and facing west when the sun hits the horizon.
Dinner arrives as the light begins to fade. The menu is traditional Greek — local products, a Greek salad, and the wine and beer are chilled. Fresh fruit comes with it. There is no rush; the boat is anchored and the meal is the point. You watch the sun dip into the sea and the sky shift through colours while you eat and drink. The whole experience runs about 2.5 hours from departure to return.
The boat is yours alone — no other passengers, no shared schedule beyond the 6pm start. A captain and a guide who speaks English and Greek are aboard. Service animals are welcome, and if you are traveling with an infant, specialized seats are available.
