Summary

Sailing from mykonos to delos ruins and rhenia swim with greek lunch

You’ll sail from Mykonos across bright Aegean waters to swim off Rhenia’s quiet shores, share lunch and local wine on deck, then walk ancient Delos with a licensed guide who brings its myths alive. Expect laughter between strangers, salt on your skin, and stories you might still be turning over long after you’re home.

experience

What’s the experience like?

First thing I noticed was the wind — not harsh, just that salty push against your skin as we stepped onto the yacht in Mykonos. The crew greeted us like we were old friends, and someone handed me coffee before I’d even found a seat. There’s this moment as you leave the harbor when Mykonos slips away behind you and all you hear is water slapping the hull, bits of laughter, someone’s sunglasses clattering on deck. It’s hard not to just stand there grinning like an idiot at the blue everywhere.

About an hour later we dropped anchor off Rhenia. I’ll admit, I hesitated at first — that water looked cold (it wasn’t). Slid in off the ladder anyway and it was like swimming in glass. Our guide Kostas tossed me a snorkel mask and pointed out these tiny fish darting around my feet; he said something about “the real Greek spa.” Lunch came out right after — pasta with olive oil that tasted sharper than what I buy at home, plus tomatoes that actually smelled sweet. Someone passed around house wine (light, maybe too easy to drink) and fruit so ripe it stained my fingers.

Delos was next. We walked up past broken columns while Maria, our guide, wove stories about Apollo’s birth and ancient traders crossing these same stones. She had this way of pausing mid-sentence so you’d look up and realize how quiet it was except for cicadas. I tried repeating one of the Greek names she mentioned — absolutely butchered it — but she just laughed and kept going. The sun hit everything sideways by then; made even the ruins look golden.

I keep thinking about that last toast back on board — a quick shot of something local (no idea what it was), everyone clinking glasses in awkward English-Greek-Spanish mashups. Heading back toward Mykonos, hair full of salt, skin warm from sun and wine… It felt like we’d borrowed a day from somewhere else entirely.
