The Experience

The boat leaves in the morning and heads straight to the first beach on Lefkada's east coast, where you swim and snorkel to get a sense of what the day holds. The real draw comes at Poros cave—you swim inside the sea cave itself, watching for lionfish in the dim light, then surface into the electric blue water as you exit. Just beyond it sits the Dropoff, an underwater rock formation that plunges straight down and holds ornate wrasses and parrotfish in the deeper zones. Snorkeling gear is provided, and life jackets and swimming aids are available if you need them.

By midday the boat anchors at Elies beach, where a freshly-prepared BBQ lunch is served on board with local wine and soft drinks. You have time to swim again or simply rest on deck. After lunch, the route takes you to Vathy, a small village on the nearby island of Meganisi—you get free time to walk around, sit in a cafe, or pick up gifts. The final stop is Gaidouraki beach on Meganisi for one last swim before the return to Lefkada. Families traveling with children get activity packs to keep them occupied between stops.

The whole day runs about seven and a half hours. A guide travels with you throughout, pointing out details of the underwater life and the landscape. If you want a private charter instead of the shared cruise, that option is available.
