The experience
Biologist George leads small groups on foot to find and photograph wildlife across Kos Island. The walks depend on what the island offers on the day you go (nature is unpredictable), but George knows which locations tend to hold which animals, so every walk targets specific species and habitats. You'll carry binoculars and move slowly through the landscape, watching for movement and listening for calls. The goal is to observe without disturbing: the animals stay calm and you get a genuine look at how they behave.
The timing of your visit matters more than most tours. Before June and after mid-September, the island still has water and vegetation, so birds, reptiles and mammals are active and visible. Summer heat dries out the landscape and animals retreat or disappear, making sightings rare. A morning or afternoon walk in the right season can turn up several species in a single outing. The unpredictability is part of what makes each day different. You'll meet at one of several locations across Kos depending on what's most likely to produce sightings that day.
To book, contact Kos Wildlife Walks directly by email, Facebook or Google search: George no longer accepts bookings through third-party platforms. Hotel pickup is available as an option if you choose it at checkout. If you prefer to meet at Alikes or Psalidi instead, that's the alternative. Binoculars are provided. Wear layers and comfortable walking shoes, and bring water. You'll be on your feet for around two hours, moving at a naturalist's pace.

Live guide in English, Russian and Danish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (8 to 11 years): free. Under 8: they can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?

When is the best time to see wildlife on Kos?
Before June or after mid-September gives you the most active wildlife and the best chance of sightings. The island dries out significantly in summer, which drives animals away or makes them inactive during the heat of the day.
What animals might I see on a walk?
Birds, snakes, lizards and mammals are all present on Kos depending on the location and season. George chooses walking routes based on what's likely to be active that day, so each walk is different.
How long does the walk take?
Walks run for around two hours. The pace is slow and observant. You're stopping frequently to watch and listen rather than covering distance.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the meeting point?
Hotel pickup is available as an option at checkout if your accommodation is on Kos. If you choose the alternative, you'll meet at Alikes or Psalidi instead.
