The experience
You start at Lake Vouliagmeni, a sheltered freshwater lake ringed by cliffs, and paddle through a narrow natural canal that opens into the Corinthian Sea. The route stays close to the coast, where you'll pass towering rock formations and hidden coves before reaching the Temple of Hera (one of Ancient Greece's most important archaeological sites), where you stop to swim. The paddle continues beneath Melagavi Lighthouse, which sits on a headland with views across the gulf. The whole route takes 4 hours and stays within sight of land.
All kayak equipment comes with you: paddle, personal flotation device, and the boat itself. Snorkelling gear is included for the swimming stops, and the guide takes photos throughout the day. You'll have a live guide in English, German or Greek depending on your choice at checkout. If you book the activity alone, you arrange your own way to Lake Vouliagmeni. If you add the transfer option, a driver picks you up from your Athens hotel, brings you to the lake, and returns you after the paddle with lunch included.

Is this one for you?Book the activity alone if you have your own transport to Lake Vouliagmeni, or add the transfer and lunch option if you're staying in Athens and want the driver to handle the route and a meal afterward. The 4-hour paddle suits a morning or afternoon slot in your schedule and works best if you're comfortable in the water and can swim.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, German and Greek.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Is this kayaking suitable if I've never paddled before?
Yes. The route is designed for all physical fitness levels and no prior experience is required. The guide leads the group and the pace stays manageable across the 4 hours on the water.
What happens at the Temple of Hera during the paddle?
You stop to swim in the water beside the temple ruins, which sit on the shore. It's one of the main swimming moments on the route, and the guide will have time for photos and questions about the site.
Can I book just the kayaking without the transfer and lunch?
Yes. You can book the activity on its own and make your own way to Lake Vouliagmeni, or add the transfer from your Athens hotel and a meal after the paddle.
What's included in the kayak equipment?
The paddle, kayak, personal flotation device, snorkelling gear for the swimming stops, and liability insurance all come with the activity. The guide also takes photos during the day.
How far is Loutraki from Athens?
The kayaking route is just over an hour from Athens by car, which is why the transfer option picks you up from your hotel rather than meeting you at the lake.
