Climb Paligremos, then swim the beach below it

Rock climbing and rappelling activity on Crete at Paligremos near Plakias beach, with a live guide, all climbing gear, safety briefing and a post-climb swim included. Hotel pickup is arranged; the guide speaks English or Greek. Children from age 8 are welcome, and the full day runs 7 hours from arrival to finish.

The Experience

You arrive at Paligremos on schedule and spend 15 to 20 minutes on a safety briefing before the climbing starts. The guide handles the setup of UIAA-approved equipment, so the technical side is covered; your job is to climb the rock face next to Plakias beach and work through the rappel on the way down. Bottled water and snacks are there when you need them, and the guide moves at a pace that fits the group.

After you finish climbing and rappelling, the beach is right there — Plakias beach sits at the same location, so you walk straight into the water for a swim to cool off. The whole activity is built around this sequence: safety, climbing, rappel, water. Once you're done, traditional tavernas and beach bars are steps away if you want to eat or grab a drink before heading back.

The guide speaks English or Greek, and hotel pickup is included in the booking, so you don't arrange transport to Paligremos yourself. Children from age 8 can join, though the activity does ask for at least a moderate level of physical fitness — climbing and rappelling are real work, and the day is a full one.
