The day starts with pickup from your hotel in the morning—the driver collects from several zones across Heraklion, Agia Pelagia, Hersonissos or Malia, depending on which option you book. The bus ride to Elafonisi takes about 3.5 hours, and the route itself is part of the journey: you'll pass through canyons, valleys and small villages as the bus heads toward the west side of the island. A 25-minute stop halfway through gives you time to rest and grab breakfast on your own.

Once you arrive at Elafonisi, you have 4.5 hours of free time. The beach is known for its pink sand—a natural feature from crushed shells and coral—and the water is shallow and clear enough to see the seabed. You can swim, walk the shoreline, take photographs or simply sit and watch the landscape. The beach is part of the Natura network because of its ecological value, so it stays less crowded than other Cretan beaches. Sunbeds are available to rent on-site if you want them, and food vendors operate near the beach; lunch is not included in the tour price but can be arranged separately.
