The experience
The tour leaves Corfu town in the morning or at noon and heads inland toward the mountains, moving through villages that have kept their medieval character largely intact. Ano Korakiana spreads across two parallel roads lined with 37 old churches and stone houses; Sokraki sits at about 370 meters with taverns serving Corfiot food and views down to the bay; Strinilas stands at roughly 680 meters, the highest inhabited settlement on the island, where the mountain climate and stone architecture feel distinct from the rest of Corfu. The villages are connected by narrow cobbled streets, oil mills and traditional coffee shops, and the route winds through olive groves and vegetation that thickens as the elevation rises.
The final destination is Pantokrator monastery, built on the island's highest point. From there, the view opens across the whole of Corfu, the Greek coastline and the Albanian shore opposite. The descent follows the same mountain road back down, passing Spartilas on the southern slopes before returning to the coast and driving back to Corfu port or your hotel. The whole journey takes approximately four hours.
