The experience

Your adventure starts at Kalamata's marina, where an experienced instructor welcomes you and your small group on board a powerboat built for five to six guests. Before you take the helm, you'll get a full safety briefing that covers everything you need to operate the boat with confidence: no license, no prior experience, no problem. You'll receive a curated map highlighting the must-see spots along the coast, so you know where to head and what to look for as you navigate the crystal-clear waters of the Messinian Gulf.

Once you're steering, the route is yours to shape. Your first marked stop is Foneas Beach, a hidden cove wedged between wild cliffs and turquoise water. The name means "Killer," but the only thing it steals is your breath. From there, the map points you toward Pirates' Bay, a secretive anchorage that feels pulled straight from legend. Between these two spots lie sea caves accessible only by boat, secret coves, and stretches of water calm enough to drop anchor and dive in. Dolphins and sea turtles sometimes appear. Mountains rise in the background. The boat carries snorkeling equipment, so you can slip into the water whenever you choose.

The four-hour window gives you real time to explore without rushing. A cool box keeps drinks cold, and mooring and life-saving equipment are on board. The guide stays present throughout, speaking English or Greek, ready to answer questions or point out what's worth seeing, but the boat's direction, speed and stops are up to you.

Is this one for you?You steer the boat yourself with a safety briefing beforehand, so this suits anyone who wants to be in control of where the boat goes and how fast, not a passenger watching a captain work. Groups stay small at five or six, which means you're not competing for space or attention on board.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English and Greek.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

Can I really steer the boat if I've never done it before?

Yes. A professional powerboat instructor gives you a full safety briefing before departure and shows you exactly how to operate the boat. No license or prior boating experience is required. The briefing covers everything you need to steer with confidence.

What is Foneas Beach actually like?

Foneas Beach is a hidden cove tucked between dramatic cliffs and turquoise water. Its name means "Killer," but it's famous for its striking natural beauty rather than any danger. The only thing it steals is your breath. You can anchor offshore and swim in the clear water.

What happens at Pirates' Bay?

Pirates' Bay is a secretive anchorage with raw character that feels like it stepped out of legend. It's one of the marked stops on your map, and you can explore it at your own pace, anchor, and swim if you want to linger.

Yes. Snorkeling equipment is included on board, so you can dive into the water at any of the stops or anywhere else along the coast where you choose to anchor.
