The Experience

You meet your guide in the city center and spend two hours on foot moving through Athens' oldest quarters. The route takes you past the Acropolis and Parthenon from multiple angles—close enough to photograph them clearly—then into Plaka, the neighborhood of narrow ancient streets where you'll see Anafiotika, a district of classical buildings and traditional bars with live Greek music. Along the way you pass Syntagma Square, watch the changing of the Presidential guards, and walk through the open flea markets where locals still shop.

The guide stops at the Ancient Agora to explain what ancient Athens looked like, then moves through the Roman market to discuss the empire's presence in Greece. You'll see the Greek Parliament building and hear its 18th-century history, pass the city's largest church, and end near the famous stairs that locals use as a meeting point—surrounded by rooftop bars and restaurants. The pace is walking speed through a compact area; no vehicle transport is involved.

You leave with a written list of recommendations: places to eat, shops worth your time, and activities that fit the days you have left. The guide speaks English and can arrange private tours in French for an additional fee.
