The experience
You leave Athens early in the morning and travel by train to Meteora, where your guide meets you at the station and drives you to the rock formations. The first day centers on the golden hour: you photograph the monasteries and the surrounding landscape as the sun sets, shooting from the best-positioned spots in the area. In the evening you eat at a local tavern or restaurant in Kalampaka, the town at the base of the rocks, tasting traditional Greek cuisine.
Day two starts with a hotel pickup for the morning light. Your guide takes you to the locations where the sun hits the Meteora rocks and monasteries at their most dramatic, with the option to shoot sunrise if you want to start even earlier. A professional photographer leading both sessions means the itinerary is built around light and composition, not just sightseeing. You get feedback on framing and positioning as you work. The tour ends with your return to Athens in the evening.
The private format means the pace and the stops are yours alone. Bottled water and coffee or tea are provided throughout. Train tickets, accommodation and entrance fees can be arranged on request at checkout. The guide speaks English and the tour operates in all weather, so you'll need to dress for the conditions.
