You start at Babelsberg Castle, the summer palace of King Wilhelm I, perched on a hill above the Havel River with its grounds spreading below. Then you cross the Glienicke Bridge—the actual bridge where Soviet and American agents were exchanged during the Cold War—and from there the route opens onto the park system that holds the rest of the day.

Sanssouci Palace is the centerpiece, Frederick the Great's Rococo palace and Potsdam's main draw. The tour includes the exterior, the Ruinenberg, Frederick's grave, and the castle terrace with views across the grounds.
