Neuschwanstein Castle tour and shuttle

  • Meet at Alpseestraße public bus stop
  • Take shuttle bus to Marienbrücke for photos
  • Walk to Neuschwanstein Castle with guide

The experience

Füssen is the base for this tour, which starts at the public bus stop on Alpseestraße in Schwangau. Your guide meets you there and takes the group by shuttle to Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge), the viewpoint where Neuschwanstein appears in its most famous frame: the angle Disney used as reference for its castle logo. The shuttle runs weather and season permitting. From there, you walk to the castle entrance with your guide, who fills the route with stories about King Ludwig II and the castle's place in Bavarian history.

The skip-the-line ticket is already in hand when you arrive. Your guide walks you to the entrance and helps you scan in, then steps back. Castle staff take over for a 35-minute guided interior tour with an audio guide so you hear the rooms explained without needing to read placards or lag behind a group. Everything is arranged in advance: no stopping at the ticket office, no queue at the gate.

The whole outing runs roughly two hours and twenty minutes from start to finish. Arrive 15 minutes early. Bring your voucher to the meeting point, not to the castle ticket center. Parking is available across the street (fee separate), or take bus line 78 or 73 from Füssen station at 8:05 AM to reach the start on time.

What exactly is the skip-the-line ticket and how does it work?

Do I explore the castle on my own or with a guide the whole time?

What is Marienbrücke and why do we stop there?
