Then you'll create six unique spray-painted postcards using stencils in Philipp's shipping container studio, with all materials and protective gear provided.

The experience

Philipp leads you through Munich's artistic south, starting in the former cattle-yard district where the cutting-edge Münchler Volkstheater stands. The route takes you to the Alte Utting, a beer garden that floats on a ship and has been featured in The New York Times, then to Bahnwärter Thiel: a creative workspace assembled from 40 repurposed shipping containers that serves as the city's street art hub.

In Philipp's own artist studio (also a shipping container), you'll move from observer to maker. Using spray paint and stencils, you create six unique postcards with no prior experience needed. Just curiosity. Safety glasses, protective gloves, masks and clothing covers come with the class, along with all the paint, stencils, envelopes and postcards. You leave with six finished pieces you painted yourself.

Philipp is a certified official tour guide and architect, so the commentary weaves together the city's design, cultural shifts and the artists reshaping its neighborhoods. The experience runs about two and a half hours and is family-friendly. Infants and small children can come in a pram or stroller, and public transportation stops are nearby.
