The experience
The tour departs early from Munich and heads south toward Innsbruck, crossing into Austria with your guide in a new, winterproof Mercedes or VW minivan. Your group travels alone, no other passengers join, so the pace and stops bend to what you want to see. The guide handles the route and the history. You decide how long to linger at each market or whether to add a stop the itinerary suggests.
Innsbruck's three central Christmas markets form the heart of the day. The Old Town market sits under the famous Golden Roof in the medieval heart of the city; the Swarovski Christmas Tree market lines the Inn river; and the View Market sits at about 1,000 meters elevation and is reached by a special funicular (roundtrip €9.90 per person). From there, the Tyrolean Alps frame the city and the market stalls below. On the drive, two more markets appear in the Alpine landscape: one in Seefeld in Tyrol at 1,180 meters, which converts the entire main road of the ski resort into a Christmas market, and optionally Hall in Tirol, a medieval salt-pan town where brass bands and choirs play Christmas music each evening.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds is an optional stop on the return journey: 17 chambers of wonder and a garden designed by multimedia artist André Heller, filled with art, design and architecture built around Swarovski crystals (adults €22, children 6–14 €9.50). The tour ends with a final stop in Mittenwald, a violin-making village at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains, before the one-hour drive back to Munich. Bottled water is provided throughout. You'll need a valid identity document to cross the Austrian border.
Is this one for you?Choose the 9.5-hour option if you want to see the three main Innsbruck markets and Seefeld without optional stops. Pick the 11-hour version if Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Hall in Tirol, or extra time at each market matters to you.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and German.
What are the three main Christmas markets in Innsbruck I'll see on this tour?
The Old Town market under the Golden Roof in Innsbruck's medieval center, the Swarovski Christmas Tree market along the Inn river, and the View Market at 1,000 meters elevation, which you reach by funicular for views of the city and mountains.
Can I customize which markets to visit or how long to spend at each one?
Yes, this is a private tour for your group only, so you can suggest which stops matter most to you and the guide will adapt the itinerary to fit your wishes, whether that means staying longer at one market or adding a different stop altogether.
Is the funicular to the View Market included in the price?
No, the funicular roundtrip costs €9.90 per person (discounted rates for children), and it's optional if you prefer to skip that market.
What is Seefeld in Tyrol like as a Christmas market stop?
Seefeld in Tyrol is a ski resort at 1,180 meters where the entire main road becomes a Christmas market during the season (open daily from 2 p.m. from December 1 onward), so the market atmosphere spreads across the whole village rather than concentrating in one square.
