The experience

You drive your own 14 hp street kart on city roads and through Hamburg's southern surroundings, following an experienced local guide who navigates the route and speaks to you through your helmet radio. The tour starts at the southern city limits and heads toward the port, crosses the Köhlbrandbrücke (partly), then swings toward the panorama point opposite the Landungsbrücken. On the return to the starting point along Elbuferstrasse, you get the open road to accelerate. If traffic and time allow, the route also passes through HafenCity, past the Elbphilharmonie and into Speicherstadt.

Before the tour begins, you'll receive a safety briefing and a practice round to get comfortable with the kart. Your helmet includes a radio so you can hear the guide's commentary and directions throughout the ride. The tour runs most days of the year, though snow, ice, heavy rain or severe weather can force cancellations: winter months see more of these. A free shuttle picks you up from Hittfeld train station (15 minutes from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof) and brings you to the starting point. You'll confirm your exact departure time after booking.

You'll receive a souvenir photo and certificate at the end. Sturdy shoes, long sleeves and long pants are recommended. The operator asks that you avoid heel shoes.
