The experience

You meet your certified pilot at the launch point above Gudauri, strap in, and run a few steps off a Caucasus ridge. The pilot does all the flying. You're along for the ride, suspended at 2,200 metres with the snow-covered peaks (in winter) or deep green ridges (in summer) rolling out below you. The whole flight is filmed in HD on a GoPro mounted to the harness, so you have proof afterward that you actually jumped off a mountain.

How the flight feels is up to you. Want smooth and peaceful? Your pilot catches a thermal and lets you drift over the ridges. Want your stomach in your throat? Tell the pilot and you'll carve tight spirals instead. Either way, the flight lasts around 40 minutes from takeoff to landing. No experience is needed: first-timers, couples and families all go up regularly. Hotel pickup in Gudauri to the meeting point and back is included if you request it when you book.

The video is yours the same day. Flights run year-round, though the mountain changes completely between seasons. Public transport options are available nearby if you prefer not to use the hotel pickup.
