The Zhinvali Reservoir hits you first — turquoise water cupped between dark slopes, the kind of color that looks fake until you're standing there. Ananuri Fortress sits on a ridge above the reservoir, medieval towers and defensive walls still standing after centuries. You walk through courtyards and climb stone stairs while your driver waits with the car — there's no rush, no group moving faster than you want to go.
