The experience

You board a boat for a circle-island lagoon trip that opens with the dramatic peak of Mt. Otemanu rising above the ever-changing blue water. The cruise itself is the first half of the morning or afternoon. You're moving through the lagoon, watching the island rotate in front of you, before the guide points the boat toward the snorkeling sites.

The first stop is the 'aquarium' spot, where the largest concentration of fish in the lagoon waits in the warm, clear water. Your guide takes you between the colorful corals to show you the reef ecosystem as it actually works, not as a narration from the boat. After you've moved through the gardens, the boat shifts to a shallow site where the guide hand-feeds stingrays and you get in to interact with them. This is the moment most people remember when they book this trip.

The whole experience runs four hours. Snorkeling equipment, towels, bottled water and soda are provided. You bring nothing but a swimsuit and sunscreen. A guide speaks English or French throughout, and pickup from your accommodation is included in the booking.
