A two-hour surfing lesson in Biarritz taught by state-certified instructors in groups matched to your age and level. You arrive at the school, get fitted with a seasonal wetsuit and a board suited to your size, warm up for ten minutes, then spend ninety minutes in the water with your instructor alongside you, choosing waves and practicing takeoffs. One-week courses include photos of your session.

The experience

The lesson runs two hours total. After you arrive and get equipped, a twenty-minute educational session covers recovery techniques and the fundamentals you'll need. Then you're in the water for an hour and a half with your instructor present, watching your wave choice and encouraging your takeoff. The instructor stays alongside you the whole time, not watching from shore.

Wetsuits and boards are provided and chosen to match your size and current level: beginners get different equipment than someone who has surfed before. Groups split by age and ability, so you're not learning alongside someone at a completely different stage. If you book a one-week course, you'll receive photos of your sessions at the end.

The school sits near public transportation, and instructors teach in English, Spanish, or French. Children from age six are welcome in lessons.
