The experience

You start on Pesquiers beach, where you'll meet the crew and walk across two small wooden bridges to reach La Capte port. A small annex boat then ferries you out to the sailboat. This short transfer requires a bit of balance and agility, but it's part of the setup. Once aboard, the boat heads out along the Giens peninsula, a strip of land that juts into the Mediterranean with cliffs, forests and rocky coves on its southern side.

The snorkeling happens during an aperitif break in one of those coves, with the sunset building behind you. Masks, snorkels and paddles are all on board and ready to use. You can swim and explore the water at your own pace, or stay on deck with a drink and watch the light change. The crew asks you to mention any food allergies when you book. Drinks include rosé, a house cocktail called Rosito (rosé, basil, strawberry syrup and lemon), sangria, Coca-Cola, iced tea and still or sparkling water.

The return to La Capte happens as the sun sets, and the crew has arranged a small surprise before you step back onto the beach. The whole evening runs three hours, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, though the schedule can shift. Groups stay small. The boat takes a maximum of ten people, which keeps the pace relaxed and the coves from feeling crowded.
