The experience

The tour begins with a drive through the Montagne de Reims forest to reach Hautvillers, the village known as the Cradle of Champagne. You'll enter the church where Dom Pérignon is buried and learn the real story of whether he invented Champagne or simply perfected the art. From there, the route climbs to one of Champagne's most photographed viewpoints: a panorama over the Marne Valley where Dom Pérignon conducted his winemaking experiments. This is where your guide explains the viticulture and management of the vineyards spread below.

The first producer visit happens in the historical hillsides near Hautvillers, where you'll see the presses, wineries and cellars before tasting 3 Premier Cru Champagnes. The tour then moves into the Côte des Blancs, the region famous for 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs. You'll pass through Cramant and Oger (two of the area's most renowned Grand Cru villages), and stop near the Château de Saran, the private LVMH property where the group's luxury brands entertain their largest clients. At the second producer in Oger, you taste 3 more Grand Cru Champagnes of your choice, with guidance on natural Champagnes without dosage, extra brut, aged vintages and oak-aged expressions. The route also passes Chouilly, Avize, and the largest Champagne bottle factory.

The tour concludes with a commented passage through Epernay's Avenue de Champagne, the UNESCO World Heritage street called the most expensive avenue in the world. Your guide explains the history of the mansions and production buildings that have belonged for centuries to houses like Moët & Chandon, Perrier Jouët and Pol Roger. Beneath the street lie 100 kilometers of cellars holding 200 million bottles. Before returning to Reims, you'll also taste the three essential Champagne aperitifs: Ratafia, Fine and Marc.
