Snorkeling from Nice to Monaco: four Mediterranean coves
Four snorkeling stops in one morning, from Monaco's yachts to Villefranche's sheltered bay
A guided boat tour departing Nice that visits Monaco's two ports, the Mala caves near Eze, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat's underwater trail and La Rade de Villefranche over three hours, with snorkeling equipment, life jacket and a live guide in English or French included. Swimming is unsupervised; only swimmers are permitted in the water. The itinerary and swim stops may shift depending on weather conditions.
The Experience
The boat leaves Nice and heads toward Monaco, where two ports anchor some of the Mediterranean's largest luxury yachts—a spectacle most visitors never see from the water. From there the route turns to the Mala caves, a cove carved into the cliffs near Eze where the water stays shallow enough to explore on snorkel. The guide handles the boat; you handle the equipment and decide how long to stay in each spot.
Saint Jean Cap Ferrat comes next, known for protected turquoise creeks and the underwater life along its natural trail—fish, rock formations and the clarity that makes the seabed visible from the surface. After swimming there, the boat anchors for 45 minutes at La Rade de Villefranche, a sheltered anchorage on the French Riviera's coast where you can stay aboard, swim again or simply watch the landscape. The return to Nice closes the loop.
Music plays on board between stops. You bring or rent nothing—snorkeling equipment and life jacket are provided, and the guide speaks English or French. Arrive 15 minutes before departure; late arrivals are not accepted. There is no toilet on board. Weather can shift the stops or the swimming windows, so flexibility matters more than a fixed plan.
What’s included

- live guide in English or French.
- music on board.

Is this one for you? This is a shared boat tour with a guide steering and you swimming at each stop, so it suits swimmers who want the route and the stops arranged but want to do the snorkeling themselves. If you can't swim or prefer to watch rather than enter the water, this tour is not the right fit—the water time is the whole point, and supervision is not provided.

Can I snorkel if I'm not a strong swimmer?
Swimming is entirely unsupervised and unmonitored. Passengers who are unable to swim are not permitted to enter the water for safety reasons, so this tour requires confidence in the water and the ability to swim independently.
What's the Mala caves stop like?
Mala is a magical cove near Eze with shallow water suitable for snorkeling, where you can explore the rock formations and underwater life without deep-water swimming.
How long do you spend snorkeling at each stop?
The tour includes multiple swimming stops at Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and other coves, with a dedicated 45-minute stop at La Rade de Villefranche where you can swim, rest or stay on deck.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
The itinerary and swim stops may change depending on weather conditions, so the boat adjusts the route and timing to keep passengers safe.
Is snorkeling equipment included, or do I need to bring my own?
Snorkeling equipment and life jacket are both included with the tour; you don't need to bring or rent them separately.
What's the age requirement for children?
Children are welcome from age 5 and up; children under 5 are not permitted on this tour.
