On this tour, you walk through the vineyards with a guide who speaks English, then move into the caves and cellars where the wine is made. The winemakers are there. You taste directly with them, learning about terroir and the grapes that make each region different. A half-day tour covers two wineyards and 10+ wines. A full-day tour adds a third winery and pushes the tasting to 15+ wines.

The full-day option includes a three-course picnic lunch served at one of the vineyards, with wine and bread built in. On the half-day tour, you can add lunch or snacks for an additional fee if you want to extend the experience. At each stop, you have the chance to buy bottles directly from the winemaker, and the tour operator can arrange shipping to your home so you don't have to carry cases back.

Pickup happens at your hotel, holiday home or train station within a 10km radius of Chinon. If you're booking a private tour for one person, there's a 60 euro surcharge. Pickups in Saumur carry an additional fee. The tour runs three hours for the half-day option or up to seven hours for the full day.
