The experience
The tour leaves Carcassonne at 8:30 a.m. in a private luxury air-conditioned Volvo, driven by your guide. You visit two wineries in the morning, walking into the vineyards themselves, not tasting rooms, to see the actual vines that produce the wines you're about to taste. Your guide, a professional wine expert, walks you through the history of Languedoc wines, the terroir, how the wines are made, and how to taste and describe what you're drinking. You'll learn to recognize key grape varieties and the techniques that separate one producer's approach from another's.
Lunch comes at a traditional country manor house or a restaurant, depending on the day's plan, with dishes like duck confit with ratatouille and fresh fig tarts. After eating, you visit a third winery before the drive back to Carcassonne. The guide's connections open access to vineyards and producers that few outsiders meet. You're not following a standard route but seeing the region as someone embedded in it would show it.
The tour is small, never more than six people, so the pace stays personal and the guide can adjust to what interests you. If you want a full-day gastronomic version with additional tastings and food pairings, that option is available at checkout for a price supplement.
