A century later, in 1975, the Brest Botanical Conservatory opened here as the world's first institution dedicated to protecting endangered plant species. You'll also see the tower that survived World War II (a remnant from the Hundred Years' War roughly 600 years ago, now the city museum with dioramas showing what Brest looked like before the war), and Rue de Siam, the street saved by a local association and preserved as a time capsule of the pre-war city.
