The experience

The tour runs 2 hours and stays in the city center, moving between five major landmarks. You'll start at the Girondins Monument, then walk to the Grand Theatre, built in 1770 and one of France's most recognizable theatres. From there the route takes you through a Baroque church and into the Bordeaux Cathedral, the first Gothic-style cathedral built in the entire Aquitaine region. The guide covers the city's history, secrets and stories as you move between stops, and shares recommendations for restaurants, wine bars and things to do around Bordeaux.

The walk ends at Place de la Bourse, one of the city's most beautiful squares. After the tour wraps, you head to Couleurs du vin, a local and organic wine bar in the city center, where you collect the glass of Bordeaux wine included with your booking. The bar is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so check the hours before you book an evening departure.

Your guide is experienced and speaks English only. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and children from age 1 are welcome: infants can sit on an adult's lap or ride in a stroller.
