The Experience

You've got a half-day free in Bordeaux and you're curious what lies beyond the city center — the vineyards, the villages, the reason people talk about this region the way they do. The e-bike tour starts at Jardin Public with a quick safety briefing and a rundown of what's ahead, and then you're rolling. The Roger Lapébie trail, a converted railway line, carries you out of the city on dedicated bike lanes, flat and smooth. Ninety-five percent of the 30 kilometers stays on these paths, which means you're not fighting traffic or second-guessing directions. The e-bike does the heavy lifting on any slight incline, so even if you haven't cycled in years, the pace feels manageable.

Around the halfway point, you stop at a traditional winery for a guided tasting. The guide walks you through two or three local wines — reds and whites from Entre-Deux-Mers — and explains what the soil and the vintage mean for what's in your glass. It's not rushed. After that, you ride into Sadirac, a medieval bastide town with narrow streets and old stone buildings, and sit down for lunch.
