Bandol Wine Tasting & Cellar Visit at Domaine Lou Capelan
The cellar shows you how the winemaking actually works before you taste.
A winemaking class at Domaine Lou Capelan in Bandol where you walk through the cellar for thirty minutes to learn the vinification process, then taste three Bandol wines and three Country wines with a live French guide. The experience runs about an hour and suits all fitness levels; minimum age is 18.
The Experience
You start in the cellar itself. A French-speaking guide walks you through the different stages of how Bandol wines are made—the processes that turn grapes into what you'll taste afterward. Thirty minutes in, you move to the tasting area with six wines waiting: three from the Bandol appellation and three Country wines. The guide is there to explain what you're drinking and why it tastes the way it does.
This is not a lecture followed by a sip. You're tasting wines made at the domaine using the methods you just saw in the cellar, so the connection between process and flavor becomes concrete instead of abstract. All fees and taxes are included in the price.
