A three-hour snowmobile sleigh activity from Ivalo to the edge of Hammastunturi Wilderness Area, where you sit in a sleigh pulled behind a snowmobile, stop to grill sausages and drink hot beverages by an open fire, and scan the sky for northern lights. Pickup from your accommodation and snowmobile gear are included. Children from age 4 are welcome.

The experience

You get picked up from your hotel or another location you choose and driven to the operator's office, where you'll put on snowmobile gear. From there, the snowmobile pulls your sleigh toward the Hammastunturi Wilderness Area. The ride itself is the point: you sit in the sleigh watching the landscape pass, the silence broken only by the engine, and you keep your eyes on the sky for the northern lights that sometimes appear overhead in the Arctic night.

Along the route, you stop to build an open fire and grill sausages while hot drinks warm your hands. The untouched wilderness around you stays quiet except for the fire crackling and the wind. After three hours total, the snowmobile brings you back to your starting point. The guide speaks English throughout and knows the area well enough to spot conditions that favor the lights.
