All gear is provided, along with hot berry juice, a light meal and stories about Arctic nature between climbs.

The experience

You meet your guide at CAMP Kitchen & Bar, then walk ten minutes to Tajukangas, where a bonfire is already burning and climbing ropes are set. The guide fits you with a helmet, harness, crampons, ice axes and climbing boots, then explains the safety setup clearly before taking you to the wall. You climb on top rope while the guide belays you from below, offering advice on technique as you move. Between ascents you warm by the fire, eat a light meal and listen to stories about the Arctic.

The instructor tailors the session to your level: beginners get a thorough introduction to different climbing techniques and the chance for several ascents depending on your strength. Those with experience work on pushing their skills further. Each person climbs separately while others rest and recover by the heat. The four-hour window gives you time to attempt multiple ascents rather than a single trial.

You'll need moderate physical fitness and your own winter clothing. Everything else (climbing gear, instruction, beverages and food) is included. The guide speaks English or Finnish, and the activity suits ages twelve and up. Public transportation options run nearby if you're not driving.
